The Instagram platform removed the orange IGTV service from its main interface, in a move that seemed to acknowledge the service's failure to attract the public.

And while the number of installs of the competing TikTok application reached 1.15 billion times, the number of downloads of the IGTV application reached only 7 million times within 18 months, despite the number of Instagram users reaching one billion user.

The IGTV icon is clearly located at the top of the Instagram interface, next to the Direct Messages button, but is often ignored.

In justifying the removal procedure, the platform said that it found that the majority of users browsed IGTV videos through the news feed or Explore, while only a few users clicked On the "IGTV" icon.

"We always aim to keep Instagram as simple as possible, so we have removed this code based on this information and feedback we have received from users," she added.

The Instagram platform had allowed the publication of horizontal videos instead of insisting on vertical clips, and it also enabled the creators to publish "IGTV" videos directly from their main application in the same way that videos and images are uploaded to the Instagram page Main.

A spokesman for the platform said, "Our goal is to create a central place for video downloads that will simplify the experience of creators who can now take advantage of the download button to download short and long videos."
