- I think the climate is a hotter issue now than a year and a half ago, Greta Thunberg started the panel discussion in Switzerland on Tuesday.

We have to start listening to science and treating this crisis as it really is, ”she continued.

When asked if she felt she had been heard and whether her work had generated any concrete impact, she was determined.

- There is a difference between being heard and making something happen. I can't complain that I'm not being heard, I will be that way, she replied.

- The problem is that it is not the science itself that is noticeable, it is the one that should be central to the discussion, she continued.

More important message

The panel discussion between four young activists addressed major issues such as how today's youth activism can contribute to better conditions for future generations. But on the question of how she copes with those who give her negative criticism, it took a halt for Greta.

- I want to spend my time here talking about something more important than how I handle people who hate. I want to remind everyone of our situation. Richer countries need to reduce emissions and then help poorer countries do the same so that people in poorer parts of the world can improve their living standards, Greta said.

- People are dying because of climate change. We need to change our behavior so as not to start irreversible chain reactions to the climate.

Other participants in the panel discussion were Edward Felsenthal, Salvador Gómez-Colón, Natasha Mwansa and Autumn Peltier.
