The World Economic Forum launched today, Tuesday, in the Swiss city of Davos. The discussions address major issues related to climate and economics.

More than 3000 leaders from countries, governments, organizations and businessmen participate in the forum. Participants include US President Donald Trump, Iraqi Barham Salih, and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

This year’s edition is being held in light of the escalating tension in the Middle East and the increased risks of climate change.

It is also taking place in light of concerns about the state of the global economy, as the International Monetary Fund on the eve of the forum reduced its forecast for the growth of the global economy for the current year by 0.1%.

The US President made a speech on the first day of the fiftieth session of the Davos Forum, in which he touched on the relationship with China, and said that trade negotiations between the two countries are still continuing.

Trump has threatened to impose customs duties on his country’s imports of European cars in the absence of a trade agreement with the European Union.

On climate change, the US President described warnings of a climate crisis as stupid and, in return, promoted fossil fuels.

Trump met on the sidelines of the first day of the forum, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
