January 21, 2020 The internal cracks in the M5s on the new Rome landfill explode in the Capitol's Council Chamber. Here, in the afternoon, as many as 12 pentastellated councilors vote with the opposition for a motion which in fact defeated the choice of the junta Raggi asking to reconsider the location of the site in the Galeria Valley. To indicate it in this area, and precisely in Monte Carnevale, it was the same junta Raggi on 31 December as part of an agreement with the Lazio Region on the management of waste from the capital.

In the Julius Caesar room actually pass two motions against the landfill at Monte Carnevale: that of FdI which collects 28 overall votes in favor (including 12 of the Movement) and that of the Democratic Party with 21 (6 votes in favor of the 5 stars, a only against and ten abstained). The act presented by the Brothers of Italy, against which 'only' three pentastellar councilors (contrary to which three of the majority elected to abstain) have expressed themselves contrary requests the mayor to reconsider the location of the site.

Pentastella, the councilor Simona Ficcardi, who was immediately strongly critical of the landfill, intervened in the Chamber, defining the ruling of the council that "identifies Monte Carnevale" as "unfair". "I vote in favor of the two motions -he said- The request to withdraw the resolution is in fact consistent with the program in which the M5s had included the protection of the Malagrotta area". According to my colleague Roberto Di Palma, it is "the Lazio Region that has imposed the real culprits in a negotiation with Roma Capitale by December 31st. The immobility of the Lazio Region has been decisive. As far as I am concerned, the motion of FdI will have my vote in favor: I am aware of the situation in Valle Galeria ".

The vote came on the same day when the protest of citizens and committees of the Galeria Valley, a territory that for decades in the past has already hosted the mega-landfill of Malagrotta, landed in Piazza del Campidoglio with the cry "shame" and "liars" . In addition to some well-known faces from the show, three members of the Movement took part in the sit-in, promoted by the Valle Galeria Libera committee: the president of the Ecomafie commission, Stefano Vignaroli, the regional councilor Marco Cacciatore and the city councilor Simona Ficcardi. The next target of the demonstrators is now the Lazio Region: "Zingaretti, we will come to you too", the promise. Meanwhile, the opposition in the Municipality is blowing on the fire. "The mayor Raggi goes into the minority when the health of the citizens is at stake, now you change your decision or resign", asks the League. While the Democratic Party wonders if "there is still a majority in the Capitol, given that the House has rejected a decision taken by the junta". The vote, which for the first time since the beginning of the junta Raggi goes in a different direction from that of the executive, however, comes at the end of months in which disagreements and clashes between the Roman pentastellato have surfaced.
