The Confederation of African Football proceeded to the draw for the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup, this January 21, 2020 in Cairo. The forty remaining teams were divided into ten groups of four. Here is the composition of the hens.

Group A: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, Djibouti
Group B: Tunisia, Zambia, Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea
Group C: Nigeria, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Liberia
Group D: Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Malawi
Group E: Mali, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda
Group F: Egypt, Gabon, Libya, Angola
Group G: Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia
Group H: Senegal, Congo, Namibia, Togo
Group I: Morocco, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Sudan
Group J: DR Congo, Benin, Madagascar, Tanzania

No "death group" but some very nice oppositions to come, in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup , including Côte d'Ivoire-Cameroon in group D. The African Football Confederation (CAF) proceeded to the draw will be released on January 21, 2020 in Cairo.

The Algerian African champions landed in group A with the Burkinabè, Nigeriens and Djiboutiens.

The Senegalese, CAN 2019 finalists, will share group H with the Congolese, Namibians and Togolese.

The other teams that participated in the 2018 World Cup were about as well. The Tunisians will play against the Zambians, the Mauritanians and the Equatorial Guineans (group B). The Nigerians will cross swords in group C with Cape Verde, the Central African Republic and Liberia. Group F, along with Egypt, Gabon, Libya and Uganda, may be one of the strongest. The Moroccans will face Guineans, Bissau-Guineans and Sudanese (group I).

As a reminder, only the team ranked first in each pool will compete in the final qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup. At the end, only five selections will represent Africa in Qatar.

Day 1 : October 9 to 11, 2020
Day 2 : November 13 to 15, 2020
Days 3 and 4 : March 22 to 30, 2021
Day 5 : September 3 to 5, 2021
Day 6 : October 9 to 11, 2021

NB: the winner of each of the ten groups will be qualified for a final round, in the form of round-trip jump-offs. The five winners of these play-offs, scheduled between 8 and 16 November 2021, will compete in the 2022 World Cup.
