The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to impose a measure that limits the exploitation of short-term visas for foreigners used to have children inside the country.
"Axios" quoted US officials as saying that the US administration plans to issue regulatory controls this week that will allow the State Department to refuse to grant short-term visas to foreigners if there is a belief that the visa will be used to facilitate automatic citizenship by the birth of an unborn child.
It is not yet clear how to implement the new regulations to reduce the so-called "birth tourism," which owners arrive in the United States for the purpose of automatically acquiring US citizenship, according to the Bloomberg News Agency.
