Queen became on Monday the first rock group honored by a collector's coin in the United Kingdom on top of which sits, among other instruments, the piano of the late singer Freddie Mercury.

Queen, "one of the most iconic rock bands of all time", thus inaugurates a series of pieces dedicated to the legends of music, underlines the royal institute of the British currency, Royal Mint, on its website.

The drawing of the piece brings together the instruments of each of the founding members of the group: the red guitar of Brian May, the bass of John Deacon, the drums of Roger Taylor and the piano of Freddie Mercury, whose keys play notes from the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody. In the center is the inscription "Queen" underlined by a microphone.

"It really is a time when we think + who could have imagined such a thing? + For us. When we started, even the first rung of the ladder of fame seemed unattainable," said Brian May in a release from the Universal Record Company. "That our group and our music are recognized in this way is very touching, and a real honor," he added.

The price of these limited edition coins intended for collectors ranges from 13 pounds (15 euros) for a 5 pounds coin (almost 6 euros), up to 2,020 pounds (2,360 euros) for the golden 100 coin pounds (117 euros).
