The ex-boxer Christophe Dettinger will have to wait to know if he will touch his kitty Leetchi: the Paris court ordered Monday the reopening of the proceedings to judge if the object of this kitty undermined public order.
The pot had been created on January 6, 2019 for Christophe Dettinger, filmed the day before in Paris hitting two gendarmes during act 8 of the "yellow vests". The ex-boxer was then in police custody. In two days, donations had poured in to reach 145,000 euros. But Leetchi had decided, on January 8, to suspend this kitty which had been criticized by police unions and certain political leaders.
The matter remitted to May 19
At the heart of the debates to come, the object of the pot: did it undermine public order? The title, first "Support a yellow vest boxer", had changed after a few hours to become: "Official kitty in support of Christophe Dettinger". And the creator of the pot added: "This weekend, faced with pressure, he took a risk to defend the demonstrators. Unfortunately it risks serving as an example. Let us help him in this fight, he should not be the only one to pay ”.
In its decision, the court put forward article 1162 of the civil code on the nullity of contracts for violation of public order. The magistrates ask the lawyers of Christophe Dettinger and the Leetchi platform to formulate their observations on this article and postpone the case to May 19 to fix the dates of the pleadings.
One year in prison on day parole
At the hearing in December, the lawyers of the "yellow vest" had asked that he recover the 145,000 euros given by his supporters and that he also receive two million euros in damages to compensate for the suspension of the prize pool, which they said should have been open for 45 days.
Christophe Dettinger was sentenced in February for the violence against the gendarmes to one year in prison, set up on day parole. He wore an electronic bracelet until August.
