But where will the growth of Nantes airport stop? With 7.22 million passengers transported in 2019, Nantes-Atlantique smashed its attendance record established in 2018 (6.2 million passengers), according to figures released on Monday by Vinci Airports, majority shareholder of the Nantes platform.

Even more impressive, the increase in traffic is higher than last year: + 16.6% against + 12.9% in 2018. This is by far the strongest growth among the nine French airports managed by Vinci. Aircraft movements (63,000 in 2019) in Nantes have increased by 7.8%, which is unlikely to delight local residents denouncing noise pollution.

Thirty line openings last year

In 2019, Nantes-Atlantique activity was marked by 29 line openings, including Copenhagen (Denmark), Tangier (Morocco) and Tel Aviv (Israel). Easyjet also installed its base in the spring.

In 2020, 15 line openings are already announced, notably Dakar (Senegal), Istanbul (Turkey) or Reykjavik (Iceland). The coming weeks will also see the start of construction of an additional covered parking lot, in order to gain 400 parking spaces in the summer.
