An extra five billion SEK to Sweden's municipalities and regions is promised by the Social Democrats, the Environment Party, the Center Party and the Liberals. The supplement will be included in the government's spring amending budget.

The message came after a time of demands from the opposition for more welfare money. The Left Party wants to see the highest contribution, SEK 10 billion, the Christian Democrats 6.7 and the Moderates 3 billion extra and the three parties have started negotiations on a possible supplementary budget.

The Swedish Democrats have previously said that they support the Moderates' demands of an extra 3 billion.

"Don't trust the government"

According to Christian Democrats party leader Ebba Busch Thor, the plans for an additional budget are not affected by today's message:

- The welfare crisis will need considerably more in the short term. The Christian Democrats are now prepared to enter into a sharp negotiation with the other parties who want to in Sweden's parliament, she tells SVT.

She further states that KD, M and V had contact this weekend.

- So we will see what the end result will be, but the five billion will not suffice in our opinion. We need to get a sharp supplementary budget because we simply do not trust the government. Magdalena Andersson and the other January parties would not have stood here today if it was not because we pushed them in front of us.

SVT Nyheter is looking for other opposition parties.
