Spain and Croatia are both qualified for the semi-finals of the handball Euro in the group of Vienna, after their victory Monday on Belarus (37-28) and on the Czech Republic (22-21).

The two teams, who have won their first six matches, will compete for first place on Wednesday in a clash that could serve to avoid Norway, the scarecrow from the Malmö hen and third undefeated team in the tournament.

The Spaniards, defending champions, were hooked for a little more than half a time (19-19 in the 34th minute) before escaping. Barcelona goalkeeper Gonzalo Perez de Vargas was the man of the game with 15 saves. Back Angel Fernandez and winger Ferran Solé scored seven goals each.

The Croats already had their ticket in their pocket after their success against Germany the day before and played without pressure with their reservists.
