At least 25 people are being tried in Morocco for their involvement in the theft of luxury watches from King Mohamed VI inside his palace in the southern city of Marrakech, as reported by several local media.

The defendants are tried by the Rabat Court of Appeal (for allegedly being an organized gang), after the Palacios Ministry filed a complaint about the disappearance of several valuable watches in strange circumstances, according to the website "al3omk .com".

The electronic newspaper "febrayer.com" points out that in this case a former employee is involved in the Marrakech palace - which is the main defendant -, a security officer and several jewelers all accused of the constitution of a criminal gang, theft and complicity .

The same source indicated that the main defendant recognized the facts of the subtraction of the clocks inside the palace.

Apparently, the watches were not directly sold , but disassembled to extract from them the precious stones or gold, which they then tried to sell in different places in the country.

The newspaper Al Massae says that the band also stole other valuables that it does not detail, and adds that its members face charges such as "disclosure of secrets", "abuse of trust", in addition to "qualified theft", crimes that They can cost several years in jail.

No official instance has so far pronounced on this case, although they almost never do so in the case of the king's private life.

The monarch has an important collection of luxury watches, of which the most famous is a unique piece of the Swiss brand Patek Philippe with a value of 1,200,000 euros , which in 2018 aroused the interest of several Moroccan media and generated expressions of outrage by citizens on social networks.
