The Ministry of Community Development revealed to «Emirates Today» that it has paid one million and 523 thousand dirhams in compensation to 68 families whose homes were damaged by rain and fires during the past year, stressing that it is providing assistance and support to families affected by rain, in cooperation and coordination with the General Command of Civil Defense, and accordingly Providing assistance to the affected families, after studying the received cases, their eligibility for assistance and fulfilling the conditions.

The Acting Undersecretary, Head of the High Relief Committee, Nasser Ismail, told «Emirates Today» that the committee approved the aid after verifying the conditions of entitlement and evaluating the extent of the damage that was caused to the homes of those families located in a number of regions of the state, which were damaged by rain or fire. He continued that the provision of assistance stipulates that the damage is not caused by the negligence of the family or the infringement or negligence on the part of the owner, and that the damaged property is owned by the citizenship family.

Ismail said that the assistance is provided by the Ministry in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 22 of 2008 regarding relief assistance in cases of calamities and public and private disasters, adding that there are two types of relief, urgent and regular, where the owner is not required of any documents in the case of urgent relief, and intervention is made directly to provide Help in whatever form. He continued that in the case of regular relief, some official documents are required from relevant authorities, to prove the person's ownership of the property, in the light of which compensation is provided.

And on the criteria for disbursing aid, Ismail said that the value of the aid varies according to the report of the General Command of Civil Defense received by the ministry, as the committee works to estimate the extent of the damage and the loss to the family due to disasters, explaining that in general the family is given support of at least 50% and not more than Over 80% of the actual losses.

Responding to a question about the procedures adopted in receiving requests for assistance, Ismail said that the Ministry’s Supreme Relief Committee receives requests due to help and deal with cases received through official channels, where affected families can go to the nearest branch of the Ministry’s Happiness Centers located in various The regions of the country, so that the social researcher takes over the tasks of receiving the requests of families affected by disasters, whether it is rain or fire.
