The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center has announced that the deadline to receive applications for nominations will be extended until March 31, given the high demand for registration in the second batch of the Emirates Astronauts Program, to allow more interested people to participate in scientific explorations and manned flights to space, by registering in the program.

The registration in the second batch of the "Emirates Astronauts Program", from the beginning of the announcement last December and until now, witnessed a wide participation of male and female citizens of all ages, specialties and sectors in the country, thanks to the great impact achieved by the mission of "Ambition Zayed" the first Emirati manned mission to The space, implemented by the Emirati astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri, aboard the International Space Station.

The Center stated that the applicant to join the second batch of the "Emirates Astronauts Program" must be an Emirati, not less than 18 years old, and be fluent in both Arabic and English, and must have a university degree (Bachelor's degree and above), Adding that the program accepts all specializations in engineering, aviation, the military sector, education, science and technology sector, and other fields and disciplines.

For his part, the General Director of the Center, Yusef Hamad Al-Shaibani, said: “The high demand for enrollment in the second batch of the program reflects the aspiration of the sons and daughters of the country and their insistence on achieving the UAE’s directions for space exploration and achieving more achievements in space industry, science and research.”

Engineer Salem Hamid Al-Marri, Director of the Emirates Astronaut Program, said: “After registration closes in the second batch of the program on March 31, the stage of screening and appraisal of applications will begin, then the stage of personal interviews, which will include 10 specialists, including astronauts Hazza Al-Mansoori and Sultan Al-Neyadi ». He pointed out that «Emirati astronauts, Hazza Al Mansoori, and Sultan Al Neyadi, will lead an introductory tour in the UAE and the Gulf states to highlight the first Emirati manned mission to space, and the Emirates National Program for Astronauts, in addition to challenges and future aspirations to contribute to encouraging future generations to Study the various sciences and disciplines of the space sector.

Al-Marri called on citizens to register in the program to participate in making a new achievement for our beloved country, and to contribute to the sustainability of this vital sector.
