The Dead Sea Scrolls: Writing forbid silly and loud laughter

2020-01-19T05:04:23.187Z

One of the writings of the Dead Sea Scrolls is the Community Rule. It lists rules that believers of the time would live by and also appropriate punishments for transgressions. It was not allowed to speak brusque, lie or revenge - all in order not to disturb the "social harmony".

- It was also forbidden to fall asleep at meetings or laugh simply and loudly, says Kamilla Skarström Hinojosa, religious scientist and expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls.
