The Comorians were called to the polls for the first round of the legislative elections, this Sunday, January 19. Despite some incidents, the votes were passed in the greatest calm with a timid turnout.

Many polling stations opened staggered, sometimes up to 3 hours late. Polling station members trained and accredited by the CENI were replaced at the time of opening, more or less following the procedure.

In Moroni, an office president assured that he had followed the rules: “ The people who had to bring us the equipment and the ballot boxes came late because of the rain. It delayed us from opening the polling station. It's been about 2 hours since we started and there is only one voter. We lacked the office secretary. And I followed the training, so suddenly I took assistant # 1 to replace the secretary. There is no problem on that because we have already been told that if one is missing, we can replace it with us the other members of the office. "

In some polling stations, however, it was less consistent. Accreditations were finally distributed to members of the office parachuted by candidates for the opening, as explained by Taanchik, a voter.

The offices finally opened at noon. People started to vote. The reason why they were slow to open was that there was a slight conflict : the office members who were trained at the Céni were not those who came to work in the offices. Fortunately, the Ceni solved all of this and this is where the votes began. Initially we had to stop at 4 p.m. Then it was said that following the delay they would close at 6 p.m. and yet the police came at 4 p.m. to close the office. "

The bulletins from the islands of Anjouan and Mohéli arrived this night by special plane. The first provisional results could therefore fall at the end of the day on Monday, January 20.
