In affirmation of the close link between science and ethics, Qatar Foundation launched the "Our Ethics" award in its third edition to shed light on the global human ethics around which most religions and cultures agree through projects launched by contestants for the award to serve their community and country.

The “Our Ethics” award, launched by Qatar Foundation’s Chairperson, Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser for the first time in 2017, took advantage of the Doha International Book Fair to promote the award and its goals through a special pavilion, the organizers explained how to participate in the award and the projects that it intends to take care of.

Enhancing the positive impact on societal behavior is among the objectives of the award, as well as focusing on spreading the award message among members of the Qatari community through intensive awareness efforts through workshops targeting students inside schools and universities, in addition to activities specifically designed to highlight these values, and seeking partnerships With relevant relevant bodies and centers in Qatar, dedicating "Our Ethics Day" to celebrate inspiring initiatives and ethics.

Conditions of the award
Qataris and residents in the State of Qatar who are between the ages of 15 and 24 can apply for the award, provided that their project adopts one or more universal and human moral values, such as compassion, honesty, tolerance and generosity, and that the project is in the State of Qatar, and it is already based and his work has passed at least three months .

The winner is determined by voting for the three projects that were included in the short list of our ethics award by the public, in addition to evaluating a panel of judges, and Qatar Foundation will support the winning project by looking at opportunities that will develop it and enhance its positive effects.

And he won the award in its first edition, contestant Siwar Al-Thahab Ali through his initiative “Giving You Mercy”, and this gold bracelet was adopted by the bracelet after volunteering with the “Referees” organization in Sudan, which he worked with in order to integrate homeless children and victims of conflict in society, and encourage others to provide the support.

The award was the second edition of the Qatar team, "Mbesroun", a project for three girls that is a totally voice-based mobile application that enables blind and visually impaired people to order meals from restaurants and review their ingredients and compare their prices without asking for help from anyone, by taking advantage of the availability features Access to modern smartphones.

In the statement to Al-Jazeera Net, the leader of the "Mbesroun" team, Nawal El Karbi, believes that her team's award last year constituted a special turning point for her and the entire "Mbesrun" team, noting that the aim of her project was to try to give everyone the right to live an independent life without assistance From one, expressing her hope that this humanitarian initiative will provide effective service to help all blind and visually impaired people in Qatar and all over the world.

Attract participants
The community communication official at Qatar Foundation, Jaber Al-Hobash, considered that the participation of our ethics award at the book fair in its thirtieth edition aims to attract a large segment of visitors as the most appropriate platforms to introduce the award, and to confirm the close link between science and ethics, as well as being the most important cultural platforms in the State of Qatar.

The objectives of the award, according to Hopes, are not only to invite project owners to submit their projects to the award, but also aim to expand its scope to include planting the seeds of positive change in the behavior of members of society.

Al-Hobash adds - in an interview with Al-Jazeera Net - that the award in its third edition is witnessing a great demand from the community and the owners of the initiatives to participate, pointing out that the door to apply for the award is still open to all interested until the end of February next.

He explains that the jury is based on a number of criteria in selecting the winners, so it looks at the purpose of the project to address an urgent issue, the innovation factor, in addition to the positive impact of the project on society, the values ​​it represents and sustainability.

And he affirms that our morality initiative is concerned with empowering the winner and facilitating the ways for him to be able to develop his project and promote it, as it supported the winning project in the first version by launching the "Give Your Mercy" initiative, with the participation of employees and students of Qatar Foundation in volunteer work in various centers in Qatar.

As for the second version, it provided the "Mbesron" team with various platforms that have a great impact on the Qatari society, through which they can reach a large segment of society, in addition to investors and companies owners.
