This is the second week of work for Knivsta's new municipal police, Jonas Jeffsell. On Wednesdays, he is at the police station and looks closely at the local residents to welcome him and introduce himself. Some are local politicians, some are officials from the municipal building and some are young people who are curious about the police profession.

- Everyone is very happy and nice. After all, they have been without municipal police since Örjan Brodin retired. You feel welcome and tagged to get started properly, says Jonas Jeffsell.

For four years, 33-year-old Jonas Jeffsell has been working as a police officer. Previously, he was a race swimmer and swim coach, but has also worked as a civilian employee with the police. The little time he has worked as a police officer means he is weighed down by how he worked.

- I used to be an area police officer in Botkyrka, worked crime prevention at the operational level, that is, I was out in the field. When you work in particularly vulnerable areas, you gain a great deal of experience in a short time. The intensive and complex work means that you develop very quickly.

A safe municipality

As a municipal police officer in Knivsta, it is now about working with strategies together with, for example, social services, schools, the municipality and not least the local residents. A lot is now about Jonas Jeffsell getting to know the situation in the municipality.

- There are some problems with bus rides and doodles, but Knivsta is one of Sweden's safest municipalities. The challenge is probably that you cannot always spend as much police resources as you want in an area that is so safe. There is a lot of work in addition to what is most necessary that one wants to do.

- I want to continue the work with security for everyone in Knivsta, create increased security for everyone with a focus on young people and collaboration with the school. I have a lot of experience that I bring with me from Botkyrka at the same time as there are a lot of experiences and skills here that I will take advantage of. This way we can jointly develop the work, says Jonas Jeffsell.

The police office is open one day a week, but otherwise the new municipal police will not be particularly visible on the field in Knivsta.

- I just come from the work field so when the time comes, I would like to come out but the main task for this service is to work strategically and support our partners, says Jonas Jeffsell.
