The County Administrative Board of Östergötland has a national assignment in honor-related violence. This means, among other things, that the national competence team operates a support telephone to provide emergency support and disseminate information to those who encounter this form of violence in their professional practice. Anything from employees in school and social services to employees in police and judiciary can call the emergency telephone.

In addition, the national competence team can offer training to the authorities and organizations that want it.

The Government has now decided to give the County Administrative Board in Östergötland SEK 20 million for continued operations in 2020.

Constant increase

The number of cases received on the support telephone has steadily increased. In 2015, there were 298 cases which by 2019 had risen to 1,019, which corresponds to an average of 85 cases per month.

The National Competence Center should serve as a support function for various activities that may come into contact with persons who are subjected to honor-related violence. Controlling how much training and support actually gives is not included in the assignment. However, the ever-increasing number of telephone calls and inquiries indicates that the business is still in demand and needed, according to staff working on the issues at the national competence center.
