Mahmoud Mohamed - Tripoli

The Libyans are awaiting the results of the Berlin conference on the Libyan crisis, which started today after the government of National Accord and retired Major General Khalifa Haftar declared a cease-fire in Libya, in preparation for an agreement on it after the failure of a previous truce following the Moscow meeting.

And among those optimistic about the success of the conference and fearing about a new failure of international diplomacy to end the conflict, the Libyans see that their country's crisis has been deepened by negative interventions to support Haftar militarily and try to export it politically and give him a green light to attack Tripoli.

Haftar's forces have launched an armed attack since the fourth of April last on the internationally recognized government of national reconciliation in Tripoli.

Analysts and politicians believe that excessive optimism in the success of the Berlin conference may lead to the failure of the conference, as happened in the Palermo, Paris 1, Paris 2 and Abu Dhabi conferences, which all failed to solve the Libyan crisis.

Waiting for results
The citizen Abdul Salam Al-Qadi said that the Libyans are waiting for what could result from the Berlin conference, expressing his hope for a permanent cease-fire and an end to the war in all Libyan cities.

"We know that it is difficult to agree with contradictory countries in their policy within our territories, but if the major countries take a decision to stop the war, the Libyan parties and the rest of the countries that are in favor of continuing chaos in Libya, such as Egypt and the UAE, will stick to it," the judge added.

The judge told Al-Jazeera Net that the life in Libya will be further complicated if the Berlin conference does not succeed in reaching an agreement between the major countries to stop the fighting and reopen the ports and fields to produce and export oil.

The judge stressed that the closure of the oil port of Haftar is directly reflected in the high cost of living and the collapse of the Libyan dinar against the dollar, which causes new suffering for citizens in front of banks and lack of liquidity.

Like his predecessors
Ahmed Toumi believes that the results of the Berlin conference will be after a few days, just like the previous conferences that were held in order to try to solve the Libyan crisis and they did not succeed in that.

"We in Misrata no longer trust Haftar, and we see that the only solution is to fight it with weapons, defeat it, and force it to return its militants from Tripoli to its bases in the eastern region," he told Al Jazeera Net.

Al-Toumi stated that it is shameful for the international community calling for human rights to reward Haftar by sitting at the negotiating table "after the heinous crimes he committed against the Libyans four years ago."

"Will Egypt and the UAE give up the Haftar coup project and stop the devastating war in Libya? ... I think this will not happen, and we will not accept Haftar in Tripoli after these sacrifices," Toumi asked.

End the conflict
For his part, citizen Mohammed Al-Worfalli considered that the declaration of a cease-fire under the Russian-Turkish patronage and his direct observance of the Berlin conference indicates that the major powers want to end the conflict in Libya.

Al-Warfalli added to Al-Jazeera Net, "We are optimistic about the success of the Berlin conference, especially that Haftar knows very well that he will not be able to enter Tripoli after the war reached the tenth month, despite his mercenaries and receiving advanced military support from Egypt and the UAE."

Al-Werfalli expressed his hopes that the Berlin conference will result in a clear mechanism for the ceasefire process and precise measures to resume the political process, pointing out that the Libyans want peace and guarantee rights like other countries.
