The National Meteorological Center revealed that the year 2017 witnessed the highest rate of rainfall in the country during the last three years, reaching 107.7 mm, compared to 101.1 mm recorded by the state last year, pointing out that the center carried out 453 sorties of rain during the past 25 months.

The Center affirmed during the activities of the fourth edition of the International Rainfall Forum organized by the National Meteorological Center, which was launched yesterday in Abu Dhabi, that it anticipated the implementation of the rainfall program by conducting more than 200 random experiments on pollination clouds in different and various regions, and put its results under study, It turned out the positive impact and effectiveness of rain-making operations, stressing that all experiences have shown that rates and types of withdrawals within the UAE are completely suitable for rain-making operations, and will achieve the desired economic benefit.

The fourth edition of the forum was attended by local and international experts, researchers and scholars, to discuss and address the most pressing major issues in the field of water sustainability and the latest rain research.

The Director of the National Meteorological Center and President of the Asian Meteorological Union, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mandoos, said that the Emirates Rainfall Research Program, which was established by an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, in 2015, is managed by the National Center The meteorology represents one of the seven sectors targeted by the country's national innovation strategy.

He said that «the organization of this new version of the International Solar Forum, reflects the UAE’s continued leadership of international discussions related to rain sciences. Through this elite meeting of local and international experts, we look forward to the forum’s coming out with innovative and successful scientific and practical strategies and results that are able to contribute to achieving security and sustainability Fresh water locally and globally, where rain research is an important scientific tributary and a major contributor to reducing water scarcity in arid and semi-arid regions.

In her keynote speech during the forum, Director of the Emirates Rainfall Research Program, Alia Al Mazrouei, stressed that joint work and cooperation between the Emirates Rainfall Research Program and its partners from around the world is the best way to develop technologies, programs and projects that will positively affect the world’s water challenges .

She added, “Cooperation, coordination and capacity building are among the most prominent pillars of the Emirates rain research science program, and we are keen to continue our path aimed at developing rainproof science, preserving natural water resources, and contributing to building a more sustainable future.”

The first day of the International Investment Forum, whose activities end tomorrow, witnessed the organization of a number of main sessions and discussion panels with the participation of experts and local and international personalities, where they discussed the most important topics related to weathering and weather modification, and the latest developments in the field of rain, in addition to a presentation on the developments in the nine projects taking place On the scholarship of the Emirates Rainfall Research Program.

He also examined mechanisms for integrating artificial intelligence technologies and smart systems into meteorological applications.

Rainfall development

Omar Al Yazidi, Director of Research, Development and Training at the National Center for Meteorology, emphasized that “the Emirates Investment Program was launched in 2015 with the aim of developing rainforest sciences and finding solutions to the water problem, especially since the water sources in the country depend on desalination plants and rain technologies, which necessitated work on research to increase them . He said in a press statement that the forum will discuss the most important results that scientists reached in nine scientific research that helps cover scientifically ambiguous aspects about clouds and sunning, in order to reach concrete results that can be used in the rain-making operations, just as we succeeded in exploiting one of the scientific researches to develop the current materials that It is used to pollinate clouds, using nanotechnology, which allowed to give results that exceed three times the effectiveness of the material that was previously used in the rain.
