A 22-year-old boy was killed early this Sunday morning in Lyon after being run over by a car, which then fled. The drama occurred around 5:45 am when the victim was crossing the street with his brother at 9, quai des Célestins, in the city center of Lyon, reports Le Progrès .

Hit hard, the young man was in a very serious state when the firefighters and the Smur arrived. Rescuers tried to resuscitate him but they could not do anything. The young man died of his injuries an hour later. He was pronounced dead around 7 a.m.

The driver was arrested at his home according to information from France 3. He was arrested at 8:30 am in Pierre-Bénite, near Lyon.
