“The conflict in Libya has intensified in recent months and is now threatening the region as a whole. This meeting is an opportunity for Great Britain, together with international partners and countries of the region, to support efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire and to call for a return to negotiations under the auspices of the UN, ”RIA Novosti reports from a representative of the British Prime Minister’s office.
Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the Berlin conference on Libya.
The conference will be held on January 19th. Khalifa Haftar and the head of the Libyan national consent government Faiz Sarraj, as well as representatives of Russia, the USA, Turkey, Egypt and several other countries, were invited to it.
