Police were alerted to Almtorget in Malmö just before 11pm on Friday night, after a woman of 40 years of age had been raped outdoors.
"It was relatives who were alarmed, the woman is shocked," said Andreas Hulting, the police officer in charge.
After receiving testimony and initiating a search, the police were able to arrest a man in his 40s in a nearby home.
