Half of the hens were infected with the H5N8 virus in a small farm in a central region of the Czech Republic, according to the country's veterinary administration, which indicates that all the poultry on the farm in question and neighboring farms will be slaughtered, and a safety zone of ten kilometers around is set up to avoid any contamination.

Several border countries have been affected by this disease since the end of 2019, including Poland, the leading poultry producer in Europe, as well as Slovakia.

Hungary and Romania have also recently reported the presence of this virus which is not transmissible to humans, raising fears of a new epizootic like that experienced in Europe three years ago , when millions of birds had died. had to be slaughtered.
