Miami (dpa) - The Canadian music diva Celine Dion (51) will be on stage after the death of her mother, Thérèse Dion, as planned. "Maman, we love you so much," the singer wrote on Instagram on Friday for an old family photo that shows her parents with a total of fourteen children.
"We are dedicating the show to you tonight and I will sing for you with all my heart," continued Dion. As part of their “Courage” world tour, a performance in Miami (Florida) was planned for Friday evening.
The mother, known in Canada as "Maman Dion", had died on Friday night at the age of 92, according to Dion's management, the US celebrity portal "Entertainment Tonight". The singer's father died in 2003 at the age of 80.
In January four years ago, Dion had to say goodbye to her husband René Angélil and her brother Daniel. Both died of cancer.
The mother of three released her new album «Courage» last November. In total, Dion has sold more than 250 million albums worldwide and is one of the most successful musicians of her generation.
