Two years to the day after the official abandonment of the Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport project, January 17 remains an important date on the former ZAD. Its inhabitants declared it a “public holiday”. This Friday noon, to celebrate this second anniversary, they carried out a structural lifting on an old farmhouse destroyed during the first attempted eviction, the famous gendarmerie operation César, in 2012.

The idea is thus to mark a first step towards the installation of two young farmers in this place and, more generally, to “work for the sustainability of places of life” of the ZAD, in particular its self-built collective habitats.

The festive day continues with concerts in the late afternoon, followed by a banquet and a fest-noz in the evening. "We have been drinking there almost continuously for over a year against the Macron government," say the residents of the ZAD.

Two years after the abandonment of the airport project, this sector of Notre-Dame-des-Landes has calmed down and is in the process of regularization in connection with the Loire-Atlantique departmental council and the state services.
