This Friday, the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal confirmed the sentence against the Lidl brand, condemned for “inexcusable fault” in the suicide of one of its employees, Yannick Sansonetti, in 2015, learned 20 Minutes with the family of Yannick Sansonetti.

On May 29, 2015, Yannick Sansonetti was found hanged in the Lidl warehouse in Rousset, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, where he had been employed on a permanent contract for several years.

"Very strong managerial pressure"

In 2018, the Marseilles social affairs court had already condemned Lidl for "inexcusable fault". The company was recognized responsible for this death for not having acted even though it had been alerted by the Labor Inspectorate to the "psychosocial risks" that the employee was running. A highly publicized suicide, especially after the publication of an issue of the magazine Cash Investigation on harassment at work.

In its decision, the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal recalled that, according to "precise and circumstantial testimony from various colleagues of Yannick Sansonetti's work", "executives and supervisors were subjected to very managerial pressure strong since the arrival of a new director ”, shortly before the suicide of this employee. The Court of Appeal ordered Lidl to pay compensation of 2,000 euros each to the mother and the partner of the victim.
