The union: Abolished retirement age is a non-issue

2020-01-17T15:32:02.262Z

The Östergötland region is now removing the retirement age entirely for its employees, which P4 Östergötland was the first to tell.

For employees, it will be voluntary to continue working after they turn 68.

But for the trade unions Municipal which organizes nurses and the Care Union which represents the nurses, the question of raised retirement age is a non-issue.

- Not everyone can work until 65 or 67 as it seems today, says Catarina Eriksson at Municipal Östergötland.

The average retirement age for the nurses is 63 years.

"The problem is that we have an unsustainable work environment and workload," says Emma Klingvall, chair of the Östergötland Medical Association.
