Seven LR activists have joined the RN list for municipal elections in Lunel, AFP learned Thursday from the delegate of the Republicans of Hérault, where the former departmental boss of LR already leads a list of "union of the rights With the RN in Sète.
In Lunel, a town of 26,000 inhabitants marked by around twenty young people leaving for jihad in Syria, these seven local Republicans activists, led by Clément Serna, 27, officially announced their rallying on the National Rally list on Wednesday, led by Julia Plane.

"Contrary to what the RN says, Clément Serna is not the local delegate of the Republicans, he is just a basic activist, and seven departures for 80 militants in the section, it is far from being a hemorrhage" , insists Arnaud Julien, departmental delegate LR from Hérault, specifying that an exclusion procedure was underway. "If they make a common list with the National Rally, it is certain that they have nothing more to do at LR", assured, for its part, the president of the Republicans, Christian Jacob.

An RN-LR alliance in Sète at the end of November
For municipal elections, the candidate supported by LR will be the outgoing diverse-right mayor, Claude Arnaud. In 2014, he was elected in the second round, as part of a quadrangular, with 43.65% of the vote, against 27.30% for the RN list of Julia Plane. The UMP had stayed for this second round and finished 4th with 9.61%, behind the PS list (19.42%).
At the end of November, it was in Sète that an RN-LR alliance made noise with the candidacy for the head of a “union of the rights” list of Sébastien Pacull, boss resigning from the Republicans of Hérault. Supported by the Rassemblement national and Debout la France, this list will face that of the outgoing mayor, François Commeinhes, an ex-LR supported by LR and LREM. Sébastien Pacull had explained following the example of Robert Ménard, elected mayor of Béziers with the support of the RN without being a member of this party. Robert Ménard must also participate in a meeting of Sébastien Pacull in Sète on January 22.
