Brussels (dpa) - Due to health concerns, the EU Commission is proposing to ban two pigments for green and blue tattoo inks. The EU countries should discuss this in February, it said in Brussels. If the ban goes through, the colors Blue 15 and Green 7 should no longer be used after a transition period of probably several years. The tattoo artist Jörn Elsenbruch from North Rhine-Westphalia had started an online petition against a ban this week and warned that “a life without tattoos could soon become a reality”. By the afternoon, the petition had over 100,000 supporters.
