Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, a former ally of Marine Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election in 2017, believes that a duel between the far-right leader and Emmanuel Macron in 2022 would lead to the latter's victory.

"I do not believe that the repetition or the Coué method, that is to say a new Macron-Le Pen duel, is positive for the country. I do not believe it because I doubt at that time a victory (of Mrs. Le Pen) and I fear that Emmanuel Macron will be re-elected ", said on franceinfo the president of Debout la France, who had collected 4.7% of the votes in the first round in 2017 before joining Ms. Le Pen.

"Besides, the first satisfied" with the confirmation Thursday, by Marine Le Pen, of his candidacy for 2022, "is undoubtedly Emmanuel Macron," added the sovereignist deputy for Essonne.

Mr. Dupont-Aignan clarified that he had "only one objective, that in 2022 finally France will be liberated from Emmanuel Macron". He will present during his wishes to the press Monday "a device which, for (him), is the only solution for us to win in 2022".

The national secretary of Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV) Julien Bayou either does not "want a return match Emmanuel Macron-Marine Le Pen".

"Emmanuel Macron won two-thirds-thirds in the second round, by default", and this time "he could lose, he cheated his world so much", he explained on Public Sénat, "convinced" him of the possibility of a victory for a candidate "environmentalist against Marine Le Pen".

Asked about his intentions in 2022, EELV MEP Yannick Jadot replied on France Inter that there was first the municipal elections in March and that he was "not like Marine Le Pen who only thinks it".

The president of the National Rally confirmed on Thursday her candidacy for the Elysée, two years and three months before the deadline, justifying her premature engagement by "the requirement" of the function.
