This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs took note of materials published on January 14 by investigators of the House of Representatives of the US Congress on the possible illegal tracking in the Ukrainian territory of the former US ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch," the statement said.

It is noted that the police began criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 163 (violation of confidentiality of correspondence, telephone conversations, telegraphic or other correspondence) and part 1 of article 182 (illegal collection, storage, use of confidential information about a person, violation of privacy) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Our goal is to promptly investigate whether there really was a violation of Ukrainian and international law,” the report said.

In October 2019, Jovanovic announced that U.S. President Donald Trump had personally sought her resignation.
