January 16, 2020 Pietro Antonio Migliaccio, professor in Food Science and specialist in Gastroenterology, emeritus president of the Italian Society of Food Science, and well-known face of television, pioneer of scientific popularization on the topic of healthy nutrition, died in Rome. He was among the top experts in Italy of nutrition and supporter of the Mediterranean diet, against the excesses of extreme diets.

Professor Antonio Migliaccio died suddenly following the rupture of the aorta. The wife of the nutritionist, Maria Teresa Strumendo Migliaccio, confirms this to ANSA. It was a sudden event: the professor, says his wife, "was busy in the studio until late yesterday afternoon, then around 19.00 he suffered a pain and we went to the clinic. Then in an emergency ambulance at the Policlinico Umberto I ". There was however nothing to do.
