Turkey accused the UAE of thwarting a cease-fire agreement in Libya, and confirmed the existence of military support for the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar of Egypt and the UAE and Russian mercenaries, and stressed Ankara's support for Tripoli in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two sides. This comes as European calls for the success of the Berlin Conference on ways to solve the Libyan crisis are successive.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo أوlu said on Wednesday that his country's goal is to create a balance between the parties in Libya and then move to the political process, stressing that his country will not fail to respond in the event of any attack.

In a statement, Ankara Beyoglu accused the United Arab Emirates of inciting the parties to Turkey. He said that Haftar does not have the force without the air support of Egypt, the Emirates and the mercenaries, noting that the head of the National Accord Government, Fayez al-Sarraj, is the one who owns the regular army.

The Turkish minister accused Haftar that he did not want peace or a political process in Libya, but rather a military solution, describing his departure from Moscow without signing the disappointing ceasefire agreement.

On the other hand, Ihsanoglu flatly denied the allegations that the opposition Syrian National Army would fight in Libya, describing them as unfounded. On the political level, the Turkish minister stressed that his country attaches importance to the Berlin meeting on the Libyan crisis.

In the context of the Turkish statements about Libya, Turkish Defense Minister Khulusi Akar confirmed the existence of military support for Wat Haftar from Egypt, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and France, as well as mercenaries from Russia and other countries, stressing Ankara's support to Tripoli in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two sides.

In response to Al-Jazeera's meeting with the media representatives in Ankara, Akar added that Turkey provides all kinds of support to the Al-Wefaq government in accordance with the agreements concluded with it, but he also denied that his country sent Syrian fighters to Libya.

He said that the Turkish government - which supports the internationally recognized reconciliation government in Tripoli - sent a training and cooperation team that is now working in Libya, stressing that Ankara does not want any confrontation with any party and its endeavor to avoid it.

In his press statement, the Turkish Minister of Defense stated that it is premature to say that the ceasefire in Libya has collapsed, adding that "our efforts are continuing to stop the ceasefire in Libya, and we cannot say that hope is completely lost." Reflects field facts.

He indicated that the Berlin conference on the Libyan crisis could produce tangible results. The German government will host the Berlin conference next Sunday in an effort to reach compromises between the conflicting Libyan parties.

Emirati role
On the other hand, Khaled Al-Mashri, head of the Supreme Council of State in Libya, said that the UAE embassy in Moscow had contributed strongly to obstructing the ceasefire, and said that the charge d'affaires of the UAE was part of Haftar's delegation to the negotiations for a cease-fire in Moscow.

Al-Mashri said in a televised speech yesterday, Wednesday, that "Gulf parties were present in the cease-fire negotiations in the capital, Moscow, among the Haftar delegation, among them the charge d'affaires of the UAE embassy to Russia, which was one of the reasons for obstructing the signing of the ceasefire agreement."

In a speech to the Supreme Council of State in the capital, Tripoli, he added that Haftar's refusal to sign the ceasefire reveals who has the decision in his hand and who has become completely dependent abroad, in reference to Haftar.

In this context, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his regret that not all parties to the Libyan crisis have signed the ceasefire agreement. He said in remarks during a security conference in the Indian capital, New Delhi, that Haftar and Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, asked for more time to consult with the parliament on the agreement.

Berlin Conference
Meanwhile, calls are continuing in Europe for the success of the Berlin conference, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the goal will be to reach a political solution after the ceasefire and arms embargo are established.

Merkel added that the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian Vladimir Putin in the Berlin conference is a good sign, adding that it is not permissible for anyone who sees the displacement of millions of people as happened in Syria to wait for the same thing to happen in Libya.

For its part, Italy announced on Wednesday that it supports the establishment of a united and sovereign Libya, expressing its hope to find a solution to the country's crisis during the Berlin conference next Sunday.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian also said yesterday that Russia's efforts to broker a ceasefire between the warring parties in Libya were inconclusive, and he urged all parties to support a ceasefire ahead of the conference.

On Wednesday, the United Nations announced the participation of its Secretary-General, António Guterres, in the Berlin conference, alongside the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salameh.

Salama expressed his hope that the Berlin conference will lead to a final ceasefire, so that the displaced people can return to their homes.
