A recent book confirmed that US President Donald Trump's lack of knowledge of historical and geographical information amounts to his ignorance that there are common borders between India and China.

The book, entitled "A Very Balanced Genius," was written by reporters at The Washington Post, by Philip Rucker and Carole Leung, and lists chapters of the president's actions that reflect his ignorance of basic geographical and historical facts.

"It is not as if China is on your borders," the authors quoted Trump as telling Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting to discuss the threat China poses to India.

India has common borders with China, and the two countries fought a war in 1962 over a border dispute between them over a region in the Himalayas.

In the wake of Trump's comment and his apparent underestimation of the threat China poses to India, "Moody 's eyes have come out of the surprise," according to the book, which the Washington Post published excerpts on Wednesday.

The authors follow the story of the incident by saying that Modi's expressions gradually shifted from "shock and anxiety to surrender".

After this meeting, an aide to Trump told the authors of the book that "the Indians took a step back" in their diplomatic relationship with the United States.

Serious ignorance
The book also spoke about a tour by Trump in honor of the warship "USS Arizona" that Japanese aircraft had sunk in their surprise attack on December 7, 1941 on Pearl Harbor.

"John, why all this? What is the purpose of this trip?" Trump asked then-chief of staff John Kelly.

"Trump heard the phrase Pearl Harbor and seemed to understand that he would visit a battle site, but it didn't appear that he knew more than that," the book said.

The book quoted a former senior White House adviser as saying that Trump was "in a dangerously uninformed manner."

The book reported that Trump pressed in 2017 to then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to help get rid of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act that bars US companies from paying bribes to foreign officials to conclude business deals.

"It is so unfair that American companies are not allowed to pay bribes to get business abroad," the book quoted Trump as saying, "We will change that."
