Everything burned down when the five 13-year-old boys used fireworks on the roof at Sandsbro school in Växjö on New Year's Day 2017. The school's insurance company has brought the boys, who are now in their 15s, to court with a claim for damages that the five disputed.

But now Växjö District Court is giving green light for the insurance company to continue pursuing the dispute, reports the Småland Post.

The dispute, which has been going on for almost a year, is about the school's insurance company wanting the court to determine that all the youth involved who were on the roof at the time of the incident should be jointly and severally liable.

The cost of the school fire amounts to around SEK 30 million. The boys' home insurance companies have so far denied that they would be liable for damages - which means that the school's insurance company has brought an action against the youths instead.

The police investigation that was done after the fire has shown that two of the boys put their fireworks play in a ventilation drum, which started the fire.
