A couple who had married two weeks earlier and who lived in Neuville-lès-Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) were placed under judicial supervision on Monday. The man and woman, both in their 50s, are suspected of reciprocal domestic violence, reports Les Informations Dieppoises .

The couple had been married since late December. On January 11, the man was in town, very alcoholic. A police patrol spotted him and took him to the police station in sobering-up cells. The 50-something was released the next day, shortly after 6 a.m.

In police custody, he talks about his wife's violence

At around 10 a.m., a woman comes to tell the police station that she is regularly subjected to violence from her husband. She explains that he drinks a lot, hits and insults him daily. She specifies that he would have already broken her nose with a bottle of alcohol. But the 50-year-old leaves without filing a complaint, so as not to harm her husband.

The police officers decide to intervene and arrest this man. Arriving at his home, they understand that this is the drunk fifties they released the same morning. Placed in police custody, the latter partially recognizes the violence but indicates that he is also the victim of blows from his wife. A neighborhood survey confirms his claims. Placed under judicial control, the couple will be summoned within six months to the court of Dieppe.
