His father is behind the world-famous works "Bilbo: The Adventures of a Hobby", published in 1937, and "The Legend of the Ring", published as a trilogy between 1954 and 1955.

During the 2000s and 2010s, the works have gained a new audience through the filmizations of director Peter Jackson. The film trilogy "The saga about the ring" has won 16 Oscars altogether.

In the 1950s, Christopher Tolkien drew many of the original maps for "The Legend of the Ring" and after his father's death in 1973 he edited and published much of his unpublished material. Perhaps the most well-known work is "The Silmarillion" from 1977, which is a kind of guide to JRR Tolkien's fantasy universe.
