The Ukrainian civil plane shot down in Iran on January 8 was hit by two missiles fired from a military base near Tehran, according to new video footage released Tuesday by the New York Times .

These images, taken from a video surveillance camera and filmed by a mobile phone, show the trajectory of a bright object at night, then an explosion in the sky after almost 20 seconds. A second luminous object is launched ten seconds later from the same place, in the same direction, and explodes ten seconds later. A minute later, a fireball briefly appears at the top of the screen.

"Verified"

The New York Times frames in its video what it presents as the two missiles and as the Boeing of the Ukrainian company International Airlines, which crashed shortly after takeoff, causing 176 deaths.

These images are "verified," said the American daily. They explain "why the aircraft's transponder stopped working a few seconds before being hit by a second missile", and that the aircraft managed to change course to return to the airport before crashing .

According to the newspaper, they were taken by a camera installed on the roof of a building near the village of Bid Kaneh, 6 km from an Iranian military base. The village is located about thirty kilometers northwest of Tehran International Airport.
