A fire on one of the decks of the boarding terminal has forced Wednesday to evacuate and close air traffic at the Alicante-Elche airport. According to confirmed to ELMUNDO.es sources of AENA, the fire there is no personal damage or so far flight cancellations . The fire has been controlled by the Firemen, who are still operating in the area.

However, air traffic has been temporarily suspended, so it remains to be known if there have been delays , which have not yet been confirmed.

The fire has originated from causes still unknown about 2:30 pm in a covered area and both passengers and workers have been evacuated as a precaution.

The flames have burned a false ceiling and although it has been taken for granted, the fire is not yet extinguished and at this time the work is focused, in addition to suffocating, on ventilating the terminal by the intense smoke.

For this day, 125 air operations were planned in Alicante-Elche, of which 63 flights had taken off or landed until 3 pm, without complications .
