The State Duma will consider the appointment of Mishustin as Prime Minister on January 16

On January 15, after the announcement by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin of the message to the Federal Assembly, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the resignation of the government.

The head of state asked the Cabinet to fulfill duties until the formation of a new government.

The president also submitted to the State Duma the candidacy of the head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia Mikhail Mishustin for the post of prime minister.
