Baierbrunn (dpa / tmn) - Neutral in taste and with a smooth surface: Many patients cope better with medication in capsule form than with tablets. If you still have problems with large capsules, you can do it with a trick, as the “Apotheken Umschau” (edition B01 / 20) explains.
Swallowing large capsules works best if you don't tilt your head backwards - but rather forward. If you take the capsule with a sip of water, the capsule swims back into the throat and slides down better.
Alternatively, some capsules can also be opened and the contents then mixed in water or yoghurt. However, this is by no means always the case; it is even dangerous with capsules with an enteric coating. Before opening the capsules, patients should therefore check with the pharmacy.
