15,000 singers for a rapper: the Marseillais Soprano announced that he wanted to complete a turn at the Vélodrome with professional and amateur singers of all ages, to accompany him on his next date on May 30.

"Accompanied by 15,000 singers, Soprano will revisit his greatest successes, but also sing with his guests their biggest hits and timeless hits of French and international song. Undoubtedly the most awe-inspiring show of the year 2020", announce the organizers of this concert, whose tickets have been on sale since Tuesday.

"The strength of the Velodrome is still the supporters, the songs," said in an interview Wednesday at La Provence the artist, who wants to make "a small gift for (his) city". A call for candidates will soon be launched on social networks to recruit the 15,000 choristers, open to choirs from all over France.

During this concert, Soprano also wants to invite a dozen "urban music, variety" artists and DJs. "I always dreamed of having a festival with lots of artists at the Vélodrome, a meeting that would take place every two years. Drake does that in Toronto," he adds. "The idea is to mix all styles so that all generations have fun, enjoy".

At 41, the former child from the northern districts of Marseille is one of the biggest sellers of albums in France and filled two Vélodrome last year. He explains that he started singing in a choir, "in the Comorian Muslim gospels" and that he "has always been a fan of voices singing in unison".

In June, the rapper will perform, still in Marseille, at the Marsatac festival for a unique date for the reformation of Psy 4 de la Rime, the band with which he broke into the hip hop scene in the 2000s. Soprano is also preparing a new album, "Star hunter", to be released after the end of 2020.
