Yesterday, public and private schools witnessed a noticeable absence among students, due to rain and fluctuations in weather conditions, and the absence of students in some schools reached about 50%, while the students ’students emphasized that their children's schools confused them with their decisions regarding continuing or disrupting the study.

The Ministry of Education announced late, the day before yesterday, that Wednesday (yesterday) will be a normal school day, despite the weather, while leaving school administrations to determine what they deem appropriate.

The father of two students, Ahmed Hani, said that his son’s school advised him to suspend school yesterday and today, because of the watersheds in and around her square, while the father of a student in a private school in Sharjah, Ismail Mohamed, stated that he had received from the school a phone message at five in the morning yesterday, notifying him in it She suspended the study yesterday and today, until the study resumes on Sunday, adding: “I was surprised by another letter from the school after one in the afternoon, stating that the study is continuing today (Thursday).”

Mohamed said: “The school confused us with its unfulfilled decisions about the absence and attendance of students, as this makes families fully prepared throughout the day until the early hours of the day.” He called for the schools to be well informed of the forecasts of meteorologists and accordingly make their decisions continuously. Study or not.

The heads of government schools told «Emirates Today» that they did not decide to disrupt the study yesterday, because their schools are inside the cities, and they are less affected by the rains, but yesterday witnessed a remarkable absence of students, as their parents decided to prevent them from going to their schools, for fear of air fluctuations.

They demanded that the Ministry take the initiative and decide in general to suspend study in all schools in such circumstances, or confirm the continuation of studies in all of them or in a number of them that are directly affected by rain water, as is the case in schools in some areas in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that yesterday was a permanent session for students and the academic staff, and there is no truth to what some have discussed regarding the disruption of studies in Dubai and the northern regions, due to the expectation of rain.

The ministry added that it gave school principals the power to disable study in their schools in coordination with the school operations sector in bad weather conditions, stressing that maintaining the safety of students and workers in the educational field is a top priority for the ministry.

She explained that school principals are the most capable of assessing the situation in their school districts, as some areas are not significantly affected by rains, and movement in them is safe and does not pose a threat to the safety of students.

School administrators have called for "education" to make a decision to suspend school in such circumstances.

Parents of students have decided to prevent their children from going to their schools, fearing they will experience weather fluctuations.
