New twist in the Navy UFO case. As a reminder, the New York Times published two years ago an article about a video filmed in 2004 by a pilot of the Navy (Navy) of the United States on which one distinguishes an unidentified flying object.

Two years after admitting the existence of a study program on UFOs, the American authorities recognize today that documents concerning this flying object are classified "Top secret". Some images related to the event are part of it.

National security threatened

Information that comes straight from the Pentagon. The latter was subject to an access to information request guaranteed by the Freedom of Information Act, which allows each citizen to request access to documents from one of the federal agencies, from the NSA to the Library of the Congress. A door that is never quite open since many restrictions exist. As with documents that expose trade secrets, the privacy of others or "geological or geophysical data".

In this specific case, it is the “Top secret” classification which blocks access to more details on the nature of this UFO. Witness the response received by Christian Lambright, the researcher behind the access to information request: "Examination of our records revealed that the Navy's Intelligence Office (ONI) has no publishable document related to your request. […] We discovered that some images are classified TOP SECRET. Examination of these documents indicates that they are currently classified and that their publication could cause an exceptionally serious danger to the national security of the United States ”. It is mentioned below that "the ONI has a video classified SECRET" although it is specified that its access does not depend on their authority but on another service of the Navy.

An ongoing investigation

A Pentagon spokesperson told Vice that "the investigation into an unidentified aerial phenomenon [ a term preferred to UFO because less connoted ] was still in progress" and confirmed that the video circulating since 2017 is of the same duration than the original video.

A vagueness maintained by the administration which does not allow to formally establish a link between the video circulating on the Internet and the "documents" mentioned in the response from ONI.
