Yesterday, field teams affiliated to the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai managed to withdraw water pools in streets affected by rain during the hours of the night before yesterday (Tuesday night, Wednesday), at a time when the authority confirmed to «Emirates Today» that only 5% of the size of the road network Affected by the heavy rains during the past days, she also reported that she has an integrated system of field teams and public transportation networks that ensure that any emergency is faced according to predetermined scenarios, numbering 41 scenarios, to deal with each case, in addition to 10,000 cameras that monitor the condition and conditions of the roads enabling it From interfering immediately.

The authority confirmed that most of the main streets witnessed smooth traffic yesterday as a result of the measures implemented by the joint field teams of the relevant authorities.

She stated that the roads in Dubai consist of a large number of important strategic axes, both horizontal and vertical, that allow dealing with tracks and streets with great flexibility, so that if conditions cause the closure of one of the axes for any reason, then the traffic is immediately diverted to other paths and axes that ensure the flow of traffic .

The authority confirmed that only 5% of the size of the road network was affected by the heavy rainfall, which amounted to 150 mm / hour, noting that the degree of vulnerability is natural and minimal in relation to the amount of rain. The commission considered that dealing with the amount of rain that the country had not experienced in 24 years was of great craftsmanship, and that it did not cause deaths or severe damage.

The authority stated that there is an integrated team concerned with dealing with any emergency occurring in the roads and streets of the emirate, operating in accordance with its specialties, including the team dealing with traffic lights and traffic diversions, closures, collapses or breakdowns that may occur in the infrastructure for any reason.

She explained that her team consists of 700 employees that include contractors and workers in the specialized teams of the Roads and Transport Authority, in addition to 150 pumps and tanks to deal with these cases, as well as 150 equipment that includes various tools, in addition to artificial lakes that were established to withdraw the rain water collected in some places, such as Sheikh Zayed Road, on the border with the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

And the authority added that its unified control center clarifies traffic and public transportation in all the emirate's streets, and clearly reveals the situation, adding that the authority has more than 10 thousand cameras through which it monitors the streets and facilities, and thus can take the required decisions and actions in a timely manner.
