As RIA Novosti points out, the document invites, without the consent of the convict, who is being treated for drug addiction, to provide medical information about him to the Russian penitentiary system.

The government indicates that at the moment the court may oblige convicted drug addicts to undergo treatment for drug addiction, as well as medical and social rehabilitation, however, the law does not allow the criminal executive authorities to provide information about him that constitute medical confidentiality.

“When exercising control over the fulfillment by the convict of the obligation to undergo treatment for drug addiction and medical and (or) social rehabilitation, the relevant information is provided to the body of the penal system at his request without the consent of the convict or his legal representative,” the explanatory note to the project says.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Oleg Nilov in an interview with URA.RU spoke about the idea of ​​creating special prisons for drug addicts who refused compulsory treatment.
