Facts after the intense evening in Huskvarna when a fire broke out at Husqvarna AB, 13 medical patients were injured. They were affected by the heavy fire smoke, and were taken to hospitals or close-ups within primary care.

"Three firefighters were taken to the local shelter, they were more easily injured and all three were able to go home," says Pierre Cherfan, regional medical officer, Jönköping County.

Two added overnight

Ten people were taken by ambulance to the medicine cut. Of these, nine were factory employees, and one guard.

- Of them, I know that not everyone has been assessed. So far, we have two who have been hospitalized because of upper respiratory symptoms, says Pierre Cherfan.

He says no one is being treated for serious injuries, and no one has been admitted to the intensive care unit.

- It is common monitoring for respiratory symptoms. There may be some more to be added.

"Could have gone much worse"

The rescue work during the dramatic evening worked very well, according to Pierre Cherfan. A special medical group came out to the scene with anesthesiologists, and oxygen tubes were run out that could be put into treatment directly on those affected by the fire smoke. It is the smoke that is often the great danger with fires like this.

- I think everyone has done an exemplary evening, from the 40 firefighters who were there, to the health care efforts. It could have been much worse, says Pierre Cherfan.
