In Madagascar, last Friday, the administrative courts of the island proclaimed the official results of the municipal election held on November 27, 2016. If it is still too early to draw up a new map of the political situation in in the 1,695 municipalities, certain information nevertheless draws attention.

To date, it is still too early to speak of the “orange wave”, the color of the presidential party. The CENI, the electoral commission in charge of collecting all the results , has still not received all of the notifications of the proclaimed judgments, basic elements for establishing the first statistics.

However, a telling fact: five of the six provincial capitals were won by candidates from the IRK, the platform affiliated with President Rajoelina.

This is the case in Majunga, a large coastal city in the west of the country, where mayor Mokhtar Andriantomanga re-elected for a second term.

Same scenario in Tamatave, economic capital of the island, where the artist Nantenaina Rakotonirina rounds up the town hall with a short head, facing Roland Ratsiraka, by twice mayor of the second city of the country. The latter also disputes the results and has just seized the Council of State. As a reminder, in case of dispute of the final results, the law 2018-008 on the general regime of elections gives ten days to the protestor to be able to cassation.

In Antananarivo, Fianarantsoa and Tuléar, three new heads in the colors of the presidential party are winning their seats in their respective city halls.

In Diego Suarez, in the north, the independent Jean Luc Désiré Djavojozara is re-elected to his own succession.

In addition, " the administrative courts have noted irregularities which have affected the sincerity of the vote in 24 communes of the island " specifies a member of the CENI. Also, in Morondava, Moramanga, Tsihombe or Ampanihy " within 120 days - or mid-May -, as stipulated by the law on the modalities of the elections, partial elections will have to take place ".

Eight other municipalities will also have a second chance to elect their municipal councilors. In November, the election could not take place, for lack of candidates.
